Inner Strength Connection and Community

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Inner Strength is powerful when we remember it comes from something more, something beyond the self. Connection within the community creates the condition for drawing on that power. We don't give up when we don't give up on each other. Ye, welcome to the daily mindful podcast brought to you by creative recovery at river church in Lakewood, Colorado. In this moment, rest your mind, body and heart. Allow yourself to slow down and be present. If you are distracted, gently bring yourself back to my voice and allow this time to be your healing space. I'm Angie. I'm grateful that you are joining me. I am sharing with you today from our creative recovery workbook meditations for July. Four and five. Meditations are written by Nicole. Our monthly theme is inclusion and our weekly Word is connection. And sit with these thoughts as we...

...go through the meditations. I'm reading from Galatians six nine. So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at a harvest time if we do not give up. Nicole writes, inner strength is powerful when we remember it comes from something more, something beyond the self. Connection with any community creates the conditions for drawing on that power. We don't give up when we don't give up on each other. Take a moment and sit with this. Put your feet firmly upon the floor, feel the solid surface beneath you. Put Your right hand on your right knee and your left hand on your left knee. Take a deep breath in through your nose.

Yeah, filling your lungs, in your belly with air. You are ready. exhale slow and controlled. Again, take a deep breath and just taking your time. When you are ready, exhale slowly and control in this moment. Press your right hand into your right knee and notice the firmness. Now release again. Take your now take your left hand and squeeze your left knee and just notice as you put that pressure, pay attention to what happens in your bicept. Now take a deep breath in and release. Do not squeeze...

...your knees. Just relax and be in this moment, allowing some tension to flow out of you. Your opportunity to accept and feel connection and inclusion. Your invitation to connection. God, you never give up on me when I am weak. I'm strong because others don't give up on me. My intention for today is to accept the strength of others, breathe in my life and work matters and breathe out. I'm worthy of connection. Reflection questions for today. Have you given up on something important to you? M On yourself?...

Right about this as you go about your day. Think about this. What would it mean to come back to not giving up on you? Next question, is it difficult to accept that you need help? Again, ponder this thought. Right about it as you go about your day. Write the name of someone that might be able to support you or help you, and even if it's just to be a listening ear and set your intention today. My intention to admit to needing help today is and complete that sentence. M just...

...sit in this moment and imagine and know that there are so many people who want to help, and sometimes our pride gets in the way of asking for help. I will admit that this was one of the biggest lessons I ever learned. I pushed and did so much myself. I had always done it. I had gotten through so much. How can I get to my late thirties and be falling apart? How could I need someone to help me? And the hardened part of me was there was no one to help me, and I was egotistical about it and angry and upset. And the reality was in those moments when I finally asked for help, and I had to ask more than one person because it wasn't always the first person that I asked for the support from learning to ask for help was one of the most important lessons...

I ever learned in my life. There's a balance of being independent, being self sufficient and also knowing when you need help. When I finally learned to Lean on God and ask him for the help, and it was not always the way I thought he would give it to me. So that's where the humility, the letting go of expectations and the letting go of pride, as you might be surprised at who can help you, and that's the connection that creative recovery focuses on. We support one another and unusual and creative ways and at the same time we all bring gifts to share and when we allow someone to be in that space who they were created to be, we find connections...

...that we might not ordinarily find, and healing and knowing when to connect and ask for help is so powerful. Thank you so much for joining me, and my little dog in the background is getting ready to growl and protect our home. Have a beautiful day and I hope to continue to share with you these meditation workbooks inspired by God and written by Nicole and the workbook tools are created by myself and you can find them now on the river church website in Lakewood Colorado. ...pages for each of these meditations, and you can also find the podcast on that on the podcast page. So drop us a line if you have any questions. This is to support and help people. Not everyone kind of afford counseling, and so Nicole and I have a heart for reaching out and giving back to our community. And our community is not just within the Lakewood Colorado area. It is or whoever is drawn to and wants to participate and learn more and offer feedback. This program is only powerful because we have listened to people who have participated. We've made changes, we've collaborated, and it is through that collaboration that we have made a program that feels healing, restorative and...

...focused on God. Thank you so much again for joining me. May You have a beautiful day. W W W W W W.
